Welcome to Hanzi Learn (the "App", "we", "us" or "our"). We understand how important your personal information is to you, and we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share and protect your personal information, as well as the rights you have. Please read and fully understand this Policy carefully before using the App.

By registering an account, using the App, or checking the box to accept this Policy, you acknowledge that you have understood and agree to our processing of your personal information as described in this Policy.

1. Information you actively provide

• Account information: the email address you provide at registration, or the unique identifier and nickname returned with your authorization when you sign in via a third party such as Google or Apple;
• Profile: the nickname, avatar, learning goals and preferences you set yourself;
• Subscription information: the subscription status, membership tier and validity period generated when you purchase PRO membership (not including payment card numbers);
• Feedback information: the content you submit through the in-app feedback feature, an optional reply email, and the device model, operating system version and app version automatically attached by the system, used to help us understand issues and respond to your feedback.

2. Information collected automatically during use

• Learning data: the characters, words and example sentences you have studied, your saved items, study check-ins and completion status, review schedules and progress, and learning-behavior statistics;
• Device and log information: device model, operating system and version, language settings, app version, crash logs and basic usage statistics;
• Invitation relationships: the invitation codes you use and the invitation records generated as a result.

3. Payment information

PRO membership is purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not store your bank card number or payment credentials; we only receive the subscription status and validity period returned by the platform, used to activate the corresponding benefits for you.

• Provide core services: display learning content and progress, and sync your saved items and review plans;
• Account and subscription management: verify identity, maintain membership benefits, and handle renewals and purchase restoration;
• Personalization and improvement: analyze usage to optimize the learning path and product experience;
• Communication and notifications: contact you regarding important changes, security reminders or service notices (you can turn off non-essential notifications at any time);
• Security and compliance: prevent fraud, safeguard system security, and fulfill legal obligations.

• Third-party service providers: to provide sign-in, payment, push notifications, analytics and similar services, we share the minimum necessary information with Apple, Google and relevant technology providers;
• Legal requirements: we may disclose your information when required by laws and regulations, judicial or regulatory authorities, or when lawfully requested by competent authorities through due process;
• Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition or asset transfer, your information may be transferred as part of the assets, and we will require the recipient to remain bound by this Policy.

We do not sell your personal information. Except for the purposes stated above, we will not provide your personal information to third parties without your consent.

The App relies on third-party services such as Apple and Google; by using the relevant features you agree to their respective privacy policies. To provide a stable service, some of your data may be stored or processed on servers outside your country or region (including cloud service providers). We adopt contractual and encryption safeguards during cross-border transfers to ensure your personal information receives a reasonable level of protection.

The App may use SDKs and similar technologies (such as identifiers) to measure usage and safeguard security. For analytics or advertising-related tracking that requires informed consent (for example, in applicable EU regions), we will obtain your consent before collection; you have the right to refuse without affecting your use of basic functions.

Under applicable laws and regulations (including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the laws of your country or region), you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access and obtain a copy of your personal information;
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information;
• Delete your personal information (you can delete your account directly under "Settings → Account Security / Privacy Rights", and the related data will be deleted in accordance with the Account Deletion Agreement);
• Data portability (obtain your data in a structured, commonly used format);
• Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent previously given.

If you wish to exercise the above rights or have questions about this Policy, please contact us using the contact details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, usually no more than 30 days (one month under the GDPR).

The App primarily provides language-learning services to the general public and is not specifically directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold set by the applicable jurisdiction, such as 16 in the EU). If you are a guardian and discover that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We adopt industry-standard security measures (including encryption in transit and at rest, access control and auditing) to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. However, please understand that no method of transmission over the internet is absolutely secure; please keep your account and password safe.

We retain your personal information only for the shortest time necessary to achieve the purposes stated in this Policy. After you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your related data in accordance with the Account Deletion Agreement, except for the minimized records necessary to fulfill security auditing and compliance obligations.

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated in the App via a pop-up or announcement, and the updated version and effective date will be published on this page. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
